About Me
About Me:
With the style of a future icon, Sultan Ra’uf has definitely set his eyes on a goal, and is doing whatever he can to obtain success. He has been writing since1995. He was 10 years of age when he first picked up his pen and wrote his first masterpiece. Sultan started writing poetry and fell deeply in love with the way the words freed themselves from his lips. It wasn’t until 1998, at the experimental age of 13, that he began attempting to put his poems to music. He extensively credits his older brother Khalil Sellers for helping him find his talent. “If it weren’t for my brother, I honestly don’t even know if I would be writing now.” In high school he began to use his talent to win the hearts of his fellow classmates by reciting poems at open microphone events in his school. He used to freestyle rap with friends for fun after school, which eventually lead to the formation of a small group that would battle others for “repping” rights, as he calls it. After graduating in the summer of 2003, he moved back to East Orange. Here, he began to rap for friends on the street corners of Central Avenue. In 2004 his good friend Kenneth Epps introduced him to a group by the name: Nothing to Lose (The members of N2L; Kaos, Mouf, Traphic, Capital Mo, 10-0 and Nala P, and their manger Nick Jersey). He began to perfect his style by writing songs and by being featured on his new group member's tracks. He had been featured on his first mixtape in 2006 with his N2L camp entitled “Friday 13." He than went on to shock his new fans in late “06” by putting out a project called “NJ SAVAGE." This mixtape is laced with 24 songs that show his growth from day one and his grind even up until now. His work ethic is teriffic, to say the least. He vehemently loves his craft, and feels that he can be one of the main factors, to bring the East Coast back into the game. He knows it won’t be easy, but nothing is easy when you struggle for perfection. Sultan is now working on his new mixtape that will be released soon. The album will be ready by November of "08". He has yet to leak any information about features, but I can only imagine the caliber of MC’s that will be featured on his projects. Although he has not released the name of his album, his mixtape is titled: “Politics as Usual,” hence his name THE MAYOR. He is 22 years of age and is from East Orange NJ. All that one can expect from this young man is greatness.
