Bronze Status!!!

That’s right: I’ve hit the $1,000 mark and therefore have achieved bronze status here at UrbMob. Best believe I’ll make it to Gold in no time!
Not that I’m an expert at self-promotion, or anything, but I’ve definitely found a few things that work. If you don’t have a MySpace account, get one immediately. If someone likes your music or photos enough to add you, leave them a comment thanking them for the add. It takes a little extra time out of your day, but it’s worth it. Just think: if someone’s spending their precious time checking out your art, the least you can do is show a little gratitude. It’ll keep them coming back for more.
Another thing I’ve started doing is creating banners on Photobucket. It’s free, easy, and fun. Just upload photos and start editing. Then copy the html code from your banner and leave it as a comment for all your Myspace friends. The great thing about leaving banners as comments? Your friends’ friends see them and become curious. Curiosity leads to exploring your page, and, ideally, downloading your ringtones. Keep it to 10-20 comments a day, or else MySpace will try to delete your account for being a spammer.
As artists, we should all support each other wherever possible. The music business is so over-saturated with people trying to make it that it’s become more dog-eat-dog than ever. Again, I’m no expert, but if anyone needs advice, I’ll do my best to help you out.
